Tai Chi awakens awareness of feelings and their relation to what is going on in our minds with the intention of moving into a deeply relaxed state, even as we move. This relaxed state enables the body’s healing and repair processes to work effectively. It does this through simple physical exercises relating our breathing to movement, without interfering with the natural flow of breath.
This weekly introductory class is led by Chris Fulham, who has been practising Tai Chi since 2003, and is a member of the Master Ding International Academy of Tai Chi Chuan which teaches Traditional Yang Style Tai Chi Chuan.
The emphasis will be on posture (alignment), releasing tension and finding balance in body and mind.
The class framework/structure for beginners will be:
- Chi Kung exercises
- Core loosening exercises to help improve flexibility
- Foundation Form to integrate stillness and movement
- Posture testing to aid general body alignment
The class will be limited to 12 people so that everyone can benefit from individual attention. You are advised to wear loose clothing (T shirt and track suit bottoms) and indoor flat-soled shoes.
