Moving Forward Study Day
‘Unless one has rest in love and happiness one cannot survive, just as the body cannot survive without sleep. This system of work is to provide the rest. To take people to bliss is simply giving them rest, to rest with the Self so that they may have new and fresh mornings of life.’ Shrī Shāntānanda Sarasvatī, Good Company
New and fresh mornings of life’… sounds wonderful!
But what does it mean ‘to rest with the Self’?
The theme for the day is rest. We will explore the art of rest at all levels, physical, mental and emotional, and consider what it means ‘to rest with the Self’. We will learn that rest is conducive to happiness and freedom, and it will enable all of us to awaken to ‘new and fresh mornings of life’
The structured programme will include quiet time, meditation, study and discussion, as well as practical work, such as preparing refreshments, light maintenance and gardening (optional and weather permitting). It provides the perfect opportunity to practise philosophy in the good company of our fellow students.
The day starts with registration and refreshments at 9.00am and finishes at 5.00pm. Lunch, which is vegetarian, and refreshments are included in the price which is £20.
