Practical Philosophy – 10 week Introductory Course

Rain happens. Life happens.

It’s your response that counts.

Be free to choose happiness.

The 10 week Introductory Course draws from the great teachings of East and West, and provides guidance for a deeper understanding of ourselves, the world in which we live and the purpose of human life, and a fresh way of dealing with the challenges that we face in everyday life.

As it is a practical course, it does not involve any examinations and does not lead to an academic qualification.

Thursday evenings from 26th September to 5th December (except for half-term 31st October) from 7:15 to 9:30.

Themes you’ll be covering during the term:

  • Your wisdom.
  • Getting to know yourself. An exercise to increase awareness.
  • How awake are you?
  • Being awake in the present moment.
  • Living a just life.
  • Three types of energy – how to make the most of them.
  • The light of reason.
  • The power of beauty.
  • Finding unity in diversity.
  • Your desire for truth and goodness.

These topics are explored through discussion, observation and, above all practice.

The fee for the 10 week introductory course is £60, £40 concessions, £20 for full-time students (on production of student card).
